Screening and Brief Intervention Training at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

TST and TAMU-CC are partnering to implement a Screening and Brief Intervention program to reduce risky alcohol use on campus (SBI) and will hold their first training in February.

TST staff will also travel to Washington, D.C. in February to give a poster presentation on SBI at the CADCA National Leadership Forum.

Texas Youth are Standing Tall

This month, TST staff will meet with the Zero Alcohol for Youth Team in Longview to provide booster training to further guide them in collecting data and performing a needs assessment for their community.
 
The Youth Leadership Council will hold its monthly conference call next week to plan their activities for engaging with state and national experts and planning strategies at the TST Statewide Summit.

February 25-26 in Austin

The Texans Standing Tall Statewide Summit is a must for anyone interested in preventing youth alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. This two-day event gives you access to national experts working on the cutting edge of research on evidence-based environmental prevention strategies. TST will present the 2013 Report Card containing the latest statewide data and trends on youth substance use. You'll also learn about programs going on in Texas communities and on college campuses that you can replicate in your community to make a difference.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month

The theme for 2014 is "Help for Today. Hope for Tomorrow." The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence wishes to heighten awareness of alcohol use disorders and the pervasive impact they have on the lives of millions of Americans.

Texans Standing Tall will be hosting forums and other events in April as part of Alcohol Awareness Month. Stay tuned for details.
